Four Treatment Protocols - Neuro Facial Reflexology For Emotional Issues

A Guide for Therapists/Students

All my emotional, trauma and mindset therapies are created by and training delivered under authorisation from Sorensensistem® · Lone Sorensen Institute, Barcelona

Introduction

These four protocols form the treatment foundation for working with emotional, traumatic, and depressive presentations. They are not sequential steps of a single treatment — each is a distinct entry point, chosen based on client presentation and confirmed at consultation. In practice, treatment is rarely “one protocol only” — courses of treatment are personalised, and protocols are often woven together across a series depending on what the client's system reveals as therapy progresses. What follows is guidance on when to reach for each, not a technical walkthrough of how each is performed.

1. Vagus Nerve Reset

Best indicated for: anxiety, overthinking, dysregulated gut-brain signalling

This protocol works directly with the vagus nerve's anatomical path — brain stem, behind the ear, throat, heart, and down into the abdomen. Treatment addresses this pathway through corresponding points on the face, ears, and feet, with particular attention to the colon, where the vagus nerve terminates and gut-brain communication is most directly influenced. The ears are especially rich in nerve endings close to the surface, offering direct access into the vagal pathway and brain stem.

Choose this protocol when a client's presentation centres on anxiety or a mind that won't settle — when the nervous system needs to come down out of sympathetic overdrive via the gut-brain axis specifically.

2. Tibetan Depression Method

Best indicated for: clinically diagnosed depression, as a complement to existing medical or psychoanalytic care

This method opens the body's major systems and flows as a whole — blood flow, lymph flow, nervous system regulation, bioelectrical signalling, brainwave activity, and breath — before narrowing focus to the specific organ system most implicated in the client's presentation. In Chinese medicine, depression is understood as organ-specific (a stomach depression differs from a kidney depression, for example), and treatment is directed accordingly.

Choose this protocol when a client holds a clinical depression diagnosis and needs a protocol designed to work alongside, not instead of, other treatment they may be receiving.

3. Trauma Therapy / Emotional Release

Best indicated for: known trauma, or a nervous system that reads as chronically stuck in fight-or-flight even without a named or remembered cause

This protocol locates where suppressed or repressed emotion has taken up physical residence in the body, working at successive levels of resolution:

  • Whole-body systemic assessment via the face, to locate the oldest overall blockage — treated and balanced first
  • A finer-grained pass along the gut and colon specifically, to locate the largest blockage within that system — treated and balanced
  • Micro-mapping along spinal correspondence points on the face, to locate physical deposits along the spine — released
  • Neuro-reflexology on the feet, working the nervous system from the opposite end of the body

Choose this protocol when trauma is named, or when the clinical picture is a nervous system that has never had the chance to fully discharge and reset.

4. Access to Consciousness

Best indicated for: PTSD, diminished sense of self, low self-confidence, low self-belief, low self-esteem

This protocol centres on the limbic system, with particular focus on the amygdala. Facial points are used first to open the body's systems, preparing them to receive signalling — consistent with the opening phase of other protocols. Work then moves to Broadmann areas of the scalp, stimulating directly into the midbrain and limbic structures. Treatment concludes at plexus points on the feet, rich in nerve endings corresponding to the relevant systems, where the final treat-and-balance takes place.

Choose this protocol when a client presents as adrift from a sense of self — including PTSD presentations woven through a longer series, or where the work is fundamentally about rebuilding self-belief and self-esteem.

Choosing Between Protocols

Presentation rarely arrives as a single, clean category. Consultation identifies the best starting point, and treatment series often draw on more than one protocol as the client's system reveals itself over time.
