Vagus Nerve

Benefits Of A Healthy Vagus Nerve Path

03.12.2024

One of the specialised reflexology treatments that I have really enjoyed working with this year is a Vagus Nerve Neuro Reflexology protocol. Using it both on clients with specific vagus nerve issues but also very much as a preventative, health supporting option for any health-conscious client, it has been very popular for it's overall relaxation and feel-good factor. Having huge importance in our gut-brain connection, this nerve does a massive amount of work in keeping our body's communication system working well and deserves a treat!

The vagus nerve is a long nerve which begins in the brain stem and connects with all the vital organs of the body. It has an important influence in how we feel in our own body and in the processing of emotions. It is a big part of our gut-brain communication system.

There can be many symptoms associated with a vagus nerve issue. Because it is so long and passes through many different  body organs and systems, individual symptoms will vary depending on what part of the nerve is under pressure / damaged.

Some common symptoms are:

  • Difficulty speaking / lowering of the voice
  • Loss of gag reflex
  • Inner ear pain
  • Unstable heart rate / blood pressure
  • Decreased stomach acid production / nausea / vomiting
  • Abdominal bloating or pain
  • Feelings of low mood
  • Memory issues / fainting, trembling or or getting diary at the sight of blood
  • Anxiety
  • Tinnitus

The list goes on and on……

Clearly we can see that the vagus nerve is an important one to keep supported and regulated to help keep overall balance in many body systems.

For these reasons I believe that everyone will benefit from vagus nerve treatment as a general health support and preventative therapy even if there are currently no symptoms bothering you usually associated with the vagus nerve under pressure.

How do we treat the vagus nerve?

Neuro Reflexology Vagus Therapy to the face, ears and feet is a complete protocol to reach all of the vital organs, nerves and systems to regulate the vagus nerve and all it’s associated functions.

It is a lovely, relaxing therapy with powerful results inside the body and brain.

For those with diagnosed vagus nerve issues a course of treatment would be recommended for results. For those seeking to keep a healthy system supported as a preventative and general health support, having a treatment once a month will be of great help in your health management plan.

Taking around an hour to complete, neuro reflexology vagus therapy is performed on the face (to reach the parts of the vagus nerve working inside the brain via nerve endings), on the ear (there is a great relationship between the ear functions and the vagus nerve), and on the feet (to reach the furthest end of the nerves supplying neck muscles and vital organs along the path of the vagus nerve).

Available in our Wexford Town clinic, you can book your treatment with Mariga online here

Don’t forget to check your health insurance policy if you have one, many cover part payment of reflexology treatments. We are currently affiliated with VHI, LAYA and Irish Life Health.
